Counselling, Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy – Southampton

Southampton therapist and counsellor Martin HandyBased near Southampton, I am a therapist offering counselling, psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy with the goal of helping you find deeper purpose, meaning, joy, and positive connections in your life. Together, we’ll explore and work through challenges such as past trauma, abuse, internalised shame, addictive behaviours, eating disorders, phobias, co-dependence, narcissistic control, depression, anxiety, and issues related to sexuality, gender, loss, grief, and bereavement. We’ll also embrace the unique strengths and gifts of ADHD, neurodiversity, and autism.

By understanding and processing these experiences, we’ll work toward helping you regain autonomy, a sense of control, and the ability to live in alignment with your true self. I also offer support around shadow integration, goal setting, overcoming self-limiting behaviours, negative self-talk, intrusive thoughts, self-harm, suicidality, workplace bullying, and life transitions such as adolescence, mid-life, and retirement.

I offer in-person therapy near Winchester, and provide online and phone support for both young people (14+) and adults. If you’re unsure whether we’re the right fit, I offer a free one-hour consultation to explore your needs and answer any questions.

In addition, I provide Clinical Supervision for practicing therapists.

The foundation of successful therapy is a genuine, trusting relationship. Our work together will help you build a compassionate connection with all parts of yourself—the light and the shadow. Deep within you lies a source of healing, love, and nourishment. Through exploring past experiences, trauma, and layers of negative conditioning, we can uncover this hidden treasure. While this journey can be challenging, it is one of the most rewarding paths, bringing a sense of self-love, purpose, and profound meaning.

I offer in-person counselling at Space to Talk in Romsey on Wednesday afternoons. Many of my clients travel from across the Southampton area, including Winchester, Salisbury, Romsey, Andover, and the New Forest. Online therapy is available throughout the week, with flexible daytime and evening appointments to suit your schedule.
